The weather is rapidly changing, with water temperatures beginning to decrease, and numerous red fish are on the move. I anticipate that in the near future, we will start seeing a surge of speckled trout as well. Please feel free to contact me directly or through my provided information to book a reservation. Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - Northampton, VA Flats Report on 3rd Aug, 2024 - 1
Well I haven’t had time to mess with the website lately, but the fishing has been really good for me for the month of July. Plenty of action on rod and reel and fly rod equally. Numerous out of slot reds have been caught as well as some keepers. Some speckled trout have been in the mix at first light. Critter flies have been producing the best on the fly. Hopefully the fishing will remain strong as the summer continues to fade away. I have also made a few tarpon trips with decent numbers most of time to cast at, but no hook ups as of yet; it’s a tough fishery for sure. Hit me up for trip if you’re interested.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - Northampton, VA Flats Report on 10th Oct, 2024 - 2
Have not been on here much to update anything as i have been extremely busy. September and bow into October have brought some excellent fishing around my way. I have had several days of some of the best puppy drum fishing one could want on the fly and on light tackle. In the last couple of weeks I have been finding the drum in larger schools in the shallows and the ability to sight fish them. The specks are starting to show up now and the puppy drum are continuing to bite. I will be taking bookings for the rest of the year for trout and puppy drum if anyone is interested and also stripers as they start showing up in numbers. At the end of this month I will be fishing the Legends of the Fly tournament, which is an excellent organization, and hopefully with plenty of fly action. I will do better at posting more on the regular and share. Most of the drum bites have been on soft plastics and mirror lures for me. As for the fly action, most of my bites have been on critter style flies and a lot of bites on a fly that I tie that unique to me and similar to a clouser. Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - Northampton, VA Flats Report on 10th Nov, 2024 - 3
The fall fishing has been on fire. We’ve had large schools of drum around with plenty of action from them On the fly and on rod and reel. The striped bass are starting to show up and the trout fishing is picking up. A lot of smaller trout are around in large numbers with some big ones mixed in. Critter flies and baitfish pattern flies have been good for me and plastics on a jig head and mirror lures have been good on rod and reel. I have some availability for December if anyone is interested in a trip. I will be shifting to mainly trout fishing and some stripers, and will continue to fish for puppy drum as long as the weather will allow it.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - Northampton, VA Flats Report on 22nd Feb, 2025 - 4
Well it has been a cold winter and a lot more snow than expected. My last couple of times were disappointing with the amount of big trout and now some drum dying off. I feel this happens ever cold winter, but just seems more than usual. Anyways, as the weather breaks and we see some recovery with the fish and the migratory fish that start to arrive, it will be time to get on the water and get after it. I am open for bookings for the year and well be glad to accommodate whatever you would want to do. There will be plenty of action for the fly rod and some light tackle. I will be focusing on the flats and sight fishing this spring for puppy drum and will also be looking for some flounder across the bay. Reach out to me for a trip and we will make it happen. Well the fishing has been good for me the last several days. There has been plenty of puppy drum and some trout here and there. The fish have been caught on rod and reel and fly rod, here locally, and on the Eastern Shore. The few trips looking for tarpon have been successful locating them, but no bites. Give me a shout if you’re interested in either kind of trip. I’m pretty flexible and if the early morning is not good, I’m good for a late afternoon evening trip. Tight lines!

Starting next month (July) I will be uploading available dates for some tarpon trips on the fly and rod and reel. It is a hard fishery here, but very rewarding when one is landed. It takes some long days of poling around and looking for them, and some beautiful sunrises, but I am always down for the challenge. So give me a holler if you are interested.

The flats fishing action in Suffolk, VA is heating up as water temperatures rise and baitfish move into the shallows. Redfish are actively cruising the skinny water, offering excellent sight-casting opportunities for anglers. The clear, calm conditions have made it ideal for spotting singles and small pods pushing along grass lines and oyster beds. Early mornings have been the most productive, with fish responding well to soft plastics and live bait presentations.
